OpenVPN is also considerably slower then L2TP in the tests I've done There are lots of posts here about L2TP (Which is perfectly adequate for our needs, and doesn't require the installation of third party software or drivers - even if it is open source). If I install the OpenVPN package the problems with PIA/MBAM are resolved - I can surf, ping, tracert, etc. There is nothing useful in the event logs. Internet access just seems to be dead, though Windows does not report any issues. MalwareBytes can't connect to it's license No websites are accessible via a browser, ping or tracert. On Windows 10 with the same VPN configurations when connected to the VPN and with MalwareBytes Web Protection enabled there are a couple of problems (1). MalwareBytes is installed on all of these PCs.

On Windows 7 I have several PCs connected to the VPN using L2TP/IPSec with a pre-shared key. (Please, I'd rather not get into a discussion about our choice of provider). We use Private Internet Access for our VPN provider. The final application test is for MalwareBytes Premium. I've been testing Windfor several months.
